"Since I have benefited from the programs that advocates before me fought and lost their lives for, I feel that I should do my part to advocate for my needs and those of persons who are unable to speak for themselves."

Local Level Advocacy

The Spokane HIV Advocacy Group (SHAG) was created in 2007 by individuals infected and affected by HIV/AIDS who share the common goal to end AIDS and cure HIV in our lifetime. SAN provides staff and resources to help SHAG empower passionate advocates through education, peer mentoring and outreach to elected representatives. SHAG meets quarterly throughout the year at SAN to discuss emerging issues affecting our HIV community and are active participants in the annual AIDS Awareness and Action Day event in Olympia.

SHAG produces and distributes a quarterly consumer newsletter called "Well Informed".  Please click on the link to learn more about past and current activities.
