Oscar Missing From Spokane AIDS Network

Staff at the Spokane AIDS Network(SAN) arrived Friday morning to find their former irritable tenant, Oscar G., missing along with their trash can. A note was left expressing irritation at not being nominated for an Oscar Award for his extensive work on a popular children’s television show. No one at SAN has seen or heard from Oscar since. Calls to friends and former colleagues, a freakishly large yellow bird and an overly happy blue creature with an addiction to cookies, were not immediately returned.
“I went to throw some trash away, and that’s when I noticed our garbage can was missing as well as Oscar who lives inside,” said Katie Coker, Executive Director of SAN. “Times are tough, so we let Oscar sub-let part of that can from us. It’s not a big can so perhaps that’s why he’s so grouchy.”
The former resident of a child-famous street moved into the trash bin at SAN several months ago citing a need for a change. In an effort to cheer up Oscar, SAN is hoping to locate him immediately to notify him of his invitation to attend the AIDS Network’s annual Oscar Gala celebration taking place Sunday evening, March 7th, at the Northern Quest Resort and Casino.
“The Oscar Gala is a fabulous event that never fails to cheer up all those that attend,” said Wendi Dunlap, Case Manager for SAN. “We know that if Oscar attends it’s sure to turn his frown upside down.”
If anyone sees Oscar G. they’re asked to relay the invitation to attend, and to consider attending themselves. The Oscar Gala benefits the direct services and prevention efforts of the Spokane AIDS Network. For more information on the Gala and to purchase tickets call 455-8993.
Oscar G. is available for media interviews and television appearances. Oscar G. will also be making appearances at dozens of public venues in and around Spokane over the weeks leading up to SAN’s 12th annual Oscar Gala on Sunday, March 7th, 2010.
